    What is it?
  • VHT BRAKE CALIPER, DRUM & ROTOR COATINGS provide a durable, heat resistant, gloss coating specifically designed for cast iron and aluminum brake applications. This durable coating will beatify the brake calipers, drums and rotors on specialty vehicles with a custom appearance. This innovative new coating withstands 900°F temperatures, brake dust, salt and corrosion without losing its gloss luster.
    How To:
  • Clean surface thoroughly. Remove grease, oil, loose paint, rust, scale, etc. using a high grade cleaner such as VHT's Brake Cleaner (Product #SP-11 & #SP-11-1 for use in California) or PJ1's Super Cleaner (Product number #3-20 & 3-21 for use in California). Scuff any rusted or glossy surface with either a wire brush or steel wool. Cleanse again with high grade cleaner and let dry. Mask any surface not to be coated. Apply coating in a 70°F- 95°F environment with minimal humidity. Shake can for one minute after marble is heard. Hold can upright 12-16 inches from surface during application. Apply each coat in a crosshatch pattern. For best results, apply thin, even coats in 20- minute intervals until desired coverage is achieved.
    Curing:
  • For ideal results, VHT Brake Caliper, Drum & Rotor Coatings are best cured in an oven or Bar-B-Que by baking at 250°F for 30 minutes. This will provide a durable, solvent resistant finish. The inherent heat of operating the vehicle may also accomplish curing. Use caution not to create excessive brake dust while coating is still wet. All curing must be done slowly. Until coating is cured, product is not solvent resistant.

    Just finished painting with the blue and the calipers look awesome. I also purchased some G-2 System caliper paint in white to do some striping which came out great. I bought two cans to coat all calipers and caliper brackets, I suggest you buy three. I got one full coat and a second coat on just the outward facing surfaces. Easy application, but you need to have the can alot closer than 12" otherwise it coats very poorly.
