Clutch Overview Finding the right clutch solution for any vehicle is no simple task. Some companies utilize a number of stages which can be confusing and unnecessary. Others may only offer a single solution that is overly aggressive or not much better than the stock unit you are trying to upgrade. That is why it is very important to know exactly what the performance needs of the vehicle are as well as the customer! Unorthodox Racing has done just that. We have listened to our customers and our solution to you is our new expanded line of Ultra G performance clutches, tailored to your specific needs. The balance between reliability and performance is a fine line. Our clutch line has been designed with this in mind. We have narrowed down our line to only a few materials and designs that, put simply, work! And if you have a unique situation that warrants a different solution, we will provide it! Our kits include the pressure plate, disc, release bearing, alignment tool, and pilot bushing/bearing (where applicable). Stage 1 Our Stage 1 setups consist of either a 100% pure Kevlar disc with sprung hub, matched heavy-duty pressure plate, and a release bearing. Kevlar: We use a 100% pure Kevlar material in our design since Kevlar blends do not work well. Lasting as much as 5 times longer than a stock unit in a stock vehicle, our Kevlar units can handle a 30-35% increase over the vehicles stock torque rating. This is a basic rating which will vary slightly with different applications. Our Kevlar units come in either a full facing or "windowed" design depending on the application and your requirements. Driveability with Kevlar is rated as "nearly-stock" in feel and engagement Stage 2 Our Ultra Grip Stage 2 setups utilize a specially blended ceramic button with a sprung or unsprung hub, matched heavy duty pressure plate, and release bearing. 4 or 6 Button Ceramic: Our Stage 2 units can be ordered in either a 6 button (semi-aggressive/high torque capacity) or 4 button (aggressive/max torque capacity) carrier. These unique buttons have an excellent wear rating for both the material and contact surfaces and are capable of lasting 5,000 to 25,000 miles, depending on your driving habits. Other benefits of this blend include a high holding capacity (ranging from 80% to 100% over the stock torque rating of the vehicle) and decent driveability on the street. Pressure Plates: A clutch disc is only as good as the pressure plate it is matched to. Our heavy duty pressure plates are balanced and tested before shipping. Release bearing contact areas on all diaphragm springs are hardened to reduce wear. Clamp load is important, but the highest clamp load is not necessarily the best solution. Extremely high clamp load plates will put an unnecessary strain on your clutch hydraulics, the thrust bearings on the crankshaft in your motor, and of course your left foot! Our pressure plate loads have been tested and chosen carefully, taking all these factors into consideration so you will have a very reliable, long-lasting clutch assembly that will not prematurely wear other related components. Stage I is for mild-modded cars, Stage II is for 400HP+ cars.
