 Description

These flywheels utilize RPS's patent pending "segmented" heat shield system. Traditional heat shields warp because of the uneven heat produced by a slipping clutch. Just like a car going around in a circle, the outside tires go faster than the inside tires, the clutch disc slides faster around the outside of the flywheel than it does around the inside. The faster moving outside gets hotter than the inside. Because metal expands more the hotter it gets, the outside of the heat shield expands more than the inside. Traditional heat shields are made of one piece metal rings, so when the outside expands more than the inside, the only thing the shield can do is warp. The RPS Segmented heat shields are not connected so they can expand and contract without warping. A warped heat shield causes the clutch to slip, which causes more heat and more warpage.

RPS Billet Flywheels are dynamically balanced after CNC machining. Other flywheel manufactures assume that since they CNC their flywheels it comes off the machine fully balanced. This would be true assuming the density of the aluminum is constant throughout the part. Unfortunately even the best billet material is not evenly dense throughout and the starter ring gears are never perfect.

RPS Billet Flywheels are also fully rebuildable for the life of the car. (At Cost.)

RPS has discontinued this flywheel and they are completely out of stock

I bought this flywheel with an RPS stage II max series. The shop installed the combo and the car will not start. Have to pull the transmission again and found out that the disc got stuck. Call RPS and they stated that 7m disc will not work with the combo. Have to use "MR2" disc. I went ahead and have it installed with the "MR2" disc. Started slipping after 10,000 miles. I guess that''s not too bad. I still like Fidanza better though.
I had problems with the clch too   5/8/2007

The problem I had with this it ate my oem clutch, destroying each other, If you have a upgraded clutch you will be ok, but never with a stock clutch
Works Great.   4/17/2006

I bought mine along with several other products from a competitor just before they went under (what a mistake) for a great price and it has worked flawlessly. I don't understand that "MR2 disc" thing, for I used a standard Spec Stg. 3 kit with mine and fit was superb. Along with the Al. Driveshaft, Unorthodox crank, and this flywheel my car flys through the rpms so quick now!
WIll not accept the factory turbo clutch disc   3/26/2005

I bought one for my 89T, installed it, and my clutch would not disengage. I took it back out and measured it and the dish in the center is shallower than the factory flywheel. RPS came back and said you must use a MR2 disc. I said no thanks and sent it back.
